TruGreen Franchisees Recognised for Excellence at 2025 Awards
TruGreen business owners from across the UK recently gathered at ServiceMaster house to celebrate another year of helping customers achieve a life lived outside and to recognise the exceptional achievements taking place across the network.
Among this year’s winners were two franchisees whose journeys demonstrate the breadth of opportunity available through the TruGreen franchise model.
Mike Simmonds joined TruGreen in January 2018. Ross Beer joined in January 2025. Their stories show how people can use their skills, ideas and commercial experience to build a business within the TruGreen network.
Franchisee of the Year 2025: Mike Simmonds
Franchisee of the Year is the highest accolade presented within the TruGreen network. It recognises a business owner who has pursued excellence across every part of their operation.
This year, Mike Simmonds received the award once again.
Mike entered franchising because he wanted a business where his effort could produce clear, tangible results. Since joining TruGreen, he has built a customer-focused operation and continued to improve how it works.
He involves his team in ideas that support marketing, service and the customer experience. One example was a referral scheme that proved popular with customers and helped attract new business.
Mike also trials new initiatives before they are introduced more widely. This allows him to test their value for customers, his team and the business.
His latest award reflects the consistent work behind his success. It also shows prospective franchise owners what can be achieved by developing a local business over time.
Foundations Award 2025: Ross Beer
Ross Beer received the Foundations Award after his first year with TruGreen.
The award recognises a franchisee who is building with intent and structure while putting the right foundations in place for future growth.
Before joining TruGreen, Ross worked in sales and business development. He had no professional lawn care experience, but he brought commercial knowledge, people skills and the ambition to run his own business.
During his first 12 months, Ross handled customer consultations and treatments himself. This allowed him to learn the operation, understand his customers and build practical experience.
Ross used his commercial background while learning a new industry. His 34% first-year growth shows the progress that can be made with a focused and structured approach.
Ross’s progress challenges the idea that you must have lawn care experience to join TruGreen. Technical knowledge can be taught. Existing skills in sales, customer service, operations or management can provide a strong starting point.
Different Stages, one business opportunity
Mike and Ross represent two very different stages of the franchise journey.
Mike demonstrates what long-term success looks like after years of building a market-leading business. Ross shows what is possible in the early stages when a franchisee applies focus, energy and commitment to growth.
Every franchise owner’s results will differ. However, their stories demonstrate the value of learning the model, understanding your customers and taking responsibility for your local business.
